Maha Shivratri Celebration..
Maha Shivaratri or Great Night of Shiva is a festival celebrated in reverence of Lord Shiva. A special programme was organised on the eve of Shivaratri. The sacred mantra of Shiva ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ was chanted to begin the celebration. The students of Class VII, dressed up in beautiful attires, danced to the tune of ‘Satyam Shivam Sundram.’ The role and the powers of Lord Shiva in the natural cycle were highlighted in the assembly The ‘Tandava Nritya’ by the tiny tots of Prep Wing mesmerised the audience. A prize distribution ceremony was held for the students who achieved positions in co-curricular activities for the academic session 2016-17.
Traffic Rules And First Aid
On February 27,2017 a lecture-cum-interactive session was organized to make the students and the teachers aware about traffic rules and laws related to them.It was headed by Mr. Verma, District training officer in Red Cross.Mr. Verma told the students that they should follow the traffic rules to avoid the accidents. He explained the ABC rules of first aid by giving demonstration to the students. He also taught the students and the staff to count their pulse rate and CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Restart). He also explained how to contact the Fire brigade in case of an emergency and about the importance of eye donation. He emphasized that a small precaution can save a precious life.
SANDWICH MAKING COMPETITION
An Inter Class Sandwich Making Competition was organised for the Class I to III. Students brought the material for the sandwich making and assembled them in the class. Class I Daffodils was declared the best.

Rangoli Making Competition
An Inter House Rangoli Making Competition was held to celebrate the occasion of Diwali .Students of Class III to XII participated with a lot of enthusiasm as they put together their artistic, imaginative and creative skills to make bright and beautiful Rangoli. Students exhibited their flair in the art by making beautiful Rangoli designs using geometric shapes, deity impressions and floral motifs depicting themes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ , ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Stop Water Pollution’ etc. drew everyone’s attention.

SWACHH BHARAT PAKHWARA
“Cleanliness is next to godliness”
A cleanliness drive was organised by the CBSE under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The main purpose of the programme was to create awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. The event witnessed 100% participation of the students. Under the able guidance of their respective class teachers, students of Class VI to XII cleaned every nook and corner of the school.
Sports day for tiny tots
“The moment of victory is much too short to live for that and nothing else,” said Martina Navratilova, tennis player. Apart from commemorating victories, Sports Day also aims at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children. The Annual Sports Day 2016-2017 for the Prep Wing was organised on 20 February, 2017at the school grounds upholding this aspect of sporting events. The school playground was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere and the tiny tots of Prep Wing participated enthusiastically in the event. The races organized were hurdle race, lemon and spoon race, back to school race, fast eating race, sack race, three legged race and monkey race. At the end, prize distribution ceremony was held and prizes were distributed among the winners.
IT Quiz by NIIT
An IT Quiz competition was organized by NIIT based on Information Technology on February20,2017.The students of Class VI to VIII participated in the event enthusiastically. The students were divided into 3 teams i.e. Google, Microsoft and Adobe. The first position was bagged by the team Microsoft followed by team Google and team Adobe.
Saraswati Puja Celebration
Basant Panchami ,a day marking the onset of spring, dedicated to Maa Saraswati ,the goddess of knowledge & learning was celebrated with religious fervour on Feb 2,2017 .A special assembly was conducted by the students of Jal House. Khushpreet Kaur of Class V Roses delivered a speech throwing light on the importance of Saraswati Puja .Asif Ali of Class VII Roses presented a melodious song. Girls of Class VI performed dance on Saraswati Vandana .A special quiz was organised for the tiny tots of Prep I and Prep II to acquaint them with the importance of Saraswati Puja.
Lohri was celebrated on Jan 13, 2017with exuberant fervour. The traditional bonfire was lit much to the excitement of the students of Prep Wing and Senior Wing. The students gathered around the bonfire and threw puffed rice, peanuts, pop corns & other munchies into the fire. Deepshikha and Vaishnavi Rana of Class XI Non-Medical spoke on the importance of the festival and its religious background. The students were enthusiastic to watch the bonfire
Christmas was celebrated with fun and gaiety on December 23, 2016. The students celebrated Christmas by exhibiting their talent through songs and dance performances and spread cheer with their smiles. An Inter House English Play Competition was organised in which all the four houses Agni, Jal, Dhara and Vayu House staged plays like ‘Bishop’s Candlesticks, Christmas Carol, Mother’s Day and Social evils’ respectively. The reverend pastor Vijay Paul from the Church “Voice of Truth” gave his blessings and told the true meaning of the Christmas Celebrations. The choir of the church also sang carols which were enjoyed by everyone.

The auditorium of St. Xavier’s International School, Patiala, echoed with this blessing on December 26, 2016 when the Xaverian family came together to bid farewell to the outgoing 2017 batch of Class XII Students. It was a morning of mixed emotions for all present at the school auditorium to witness the official send off for the Class XII students at the valedictory ceremony 2016.The programme began with the Welcome Speech by Arshdeep Kaur of Class XI. students of Class XI presented foot tapping dance and songs which were interspersed with the “Mr. and Miss Xavier” pageant. Chirag Singla of Class XII Commerce and Parneet Kaur of Class XII Commerce were adjudged Mr. and Miss Xavier respectively.
A workshop was conducted by St. Xavier’s International School Patiala in association with Oxford University Press on Nov 26,2016 on the topic’ CLASS MANAGEMENT’. Dr. Anupama Mankotia was the resource person.

The best part of the programme was the students of Class XII and XI enacting their teachers .They took over the academic and administrative working of the School efficaciously. A party was given to the staff members by the school management at Moti-Mahal, where teachers unleashed their talent. Dances on the bollywood mix, solo songs on ‘Charkhe di hoonk’ , Sammi was performed by the teachers . Teachers enthusiastically participated in the games like Tambola, book balancing, dumb charades.

An excursion to a hill station is highly awaited by the students. This year a trip to Dalhousie, a hill station in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh was organized by the school.

An Award Function & Get Together for the mothers of Prep Wing
An award function was organized along with a ‘Get Together’for the mothers of Prep Wing.The toppers of the school in CBSE XII exam 2015-16 , Simran Seth (96.6%) followed by Mehakpreet Kaur(94.4%)along with Kunal Taneja (92%)were awarded. In the ‘Get Together’ the young toddlers of Nursery,PrepI and Prep II showcased their talent by reciting speech,slogans and rhymes.There were a number of games for the mothers and lots of exciting prizes.A ramp walk was also organised in which the mothers of Kavish Sood ,Maanya Kapoor and Mehakreet Kaur got first,second and third position. Principal of the school Mrs. Manpreet Waraich addressed the mothers and congratulated the toppers for bringing laurels to the school.

St. Xavier’s International School became a part of drive ‘Aao Padhaye Ek Zindagi Banaye’ by Salaam Zindagi to empower underprivileged children with basic amenities so that they can continue their studies further.72 prestigious schools all over the Punjab have been selected for this mission and St. Xavier’s International was one of them. The representatives of ‘Salaam Zindagi’ arrived at school on May 5, 2016 and interacted with the students about this mission. They emphasized that Right to Education is the right of each and every child and motivated the students to be a part of the drive. Students enthusiastically donated many items such as water bottles, lunch boxes, pens, pencils, school bags etc. Students were highly inspired by the drive and expressed that their small contributions can make a difference in the lives of so many underprivileged students. This drive can only be successful if masses as well classes will join together and thus can bring smiles on the faces of underprivileged children and make a difference in their lives.
Robotics Workshop at St. Xavier’s International School, Patiala
A Robotics Workshop was organized at St. Xavier’s International School, Patiala by Robotics Education World, Mohali to give an exposure about Robotics and Technology to the young minds .The students enthusiastically participated in the workshop and learnt about the basic functionalities such as sensing sound, light, obstacles etc. The workshop had 4 levels- Alpha level, Beta Level, Gamma Level and Omega Level. The students attended the workshop for the Alpha Level for duration of 3 hours. Instructors provided a kit to the students containing a collection of resistors, LEDs, sensors, transistors & capacitors of different values. The students assembled all the components of the kit and learnt about the basics of Robotics.
St. Xavier’s International School Organised Chess Championship
St. Xavier’s International School Organised the Patiala District Open Chess Championship,recently. Boys and Girls from all over the district participated in the Under-16,Under-19 and Under-20 categories.Moti Ram an International Chess player,encouraged the participants and gave them some valuable tips to excel in the game.St. Xavier’s International School’s Inderveer Singh (class IX) bagged the first position,while Shivangi Khanna (class XI) came fifth.

Yoga : The Healthy Way of Living
Yoga is the practice of accessing and integrating all aspects of our true nature-body, mind and spirit in the pursuit of inner harmony. It enhances physical flexibility,refines balance and co- ordination, boosts self esteem, confidence & strengthens the mind-body connection.On Jan 29, 2016 the member of Yog Vedant Sewa delivered a lecture in the school premises and addressed the students regarding ”Parents Worship Day”.Students were told different yoga techniques like Dhanurasana, Tadasana,Shashankasana, Pashchimottasana and Pranayam.They were advised to respect their parents and worship their gurus.
House Display Board Competition
One interesting feature of the school calender is the House Display Board Competition.The theme of the House Display Board Competition was ‘Republic Day’. The board decorated by the students of Vaayu House was declared the best.

Seeking The Blessings of Almighty
To seek the blessings of Almighty an ‘Akhand Paath’ was organized at St. Xavier’s International School on Feb 22, 2016. All the staff members and students of class X, XI and XII attended the Paath . Shabad recited by the students was soul soothing. ‘Har Har Naam Nidhan Hai’ and ‘Kal Taran Guru Nanak Aaya’ touched everyone’s followed after the shabad. Everyone prayed for the prosperity and development of the school.

Is fit for teasons, stratagems and spoils.”
Realizing the importance of music in life, a music room under the guidance of trained instructor Miss. Rupinder Kaur with instruments such as Tabla, Harmonium, etc. is made available to the students. It is envisaged to develop a school Orchestra in the very near future.
Indian Classical Dances are taught to the students under the guidance of dance teacher Mrs. Niti Kaushal. In addition to this, Bhangra and Giddha classes are also held to keep the culture of Punjab alive.

A poem Recitation Competition was held on Feb1, 2016 for the students of classes I to V. The students recited beautiful poems on the variety of topics such as ‘Nature’, ‘Growing Up’, ‘Family’ etc.
